Researchers at the University of Houston are interested in better understanding the perspective of individuals who are diagnosed with, or suspect they have, BPD and their family members in their reaction to diagnostic reports. It is very important that clinicians communicate the possibility of diagnosis in the most effective way to individuals and their family members. Therefore, your voice in the best of way of communicating the diagnosis is invaluable. This study will help clinicians hear your voice.
To participate, you must be an individual diagnosed with, or who suspects they have, BPD or the family member of such an individual, be English speaking and over the age of 18. This study includes filling out an anonymous online survey that will take no more than 30 minutes to complete. You will be shown three variations of a diagnostic report given to an individual after a mental health assessment. You will then be asked a variety of questions about your reaction to the reports and your demographics.
