Simon Fraser University is proud to host the 8th Annual Meeting of the International Society for the Study of Self-Injury (ISSS) in beautiful Vancouver, B.C., Canada (June 29-30, 2013; pre-convention workshop: June 28). The conference will showcase innovative research on non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI), including translational research on the functions and causes of NSSI, as well as research on the prevention and treatment of NSSI. There will be a special emphasis on the treatment of NSSI, the development, evaluation, and refinement of innovative interventions, and creative ways to deliver treatment, as well as a pre-conference workshop (including training in DBT) on Friday, June 28th.
This year, we are fortunate to have two invited addresses from internationally recognized leaders in the field:
Dr. Kim L. Gratz (University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, M.S.) will present research on an acceptance-based emotion regulation group treatment for NSSI.
Dr. Christian Schmahl(Central Institute for Mental Health, Mannheim, Germany) will present research on the psychological and neural mechanisms of NSSI in borderline personality disorder.
